Southee to play for KKR for second consecutive season
Tim Southee has not had a really great IPL as compared to his international career. This has led to continuous change in his IPL teams. While he started his IPL journey with Chennai Super Kings in 2011. Since then, he has represented a total of five franchises over ten seasons. He has played for Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Southee has managed to make 43 IPL appearances so far, the most coming in 2016 where he played in 11 games. Barring that season, Southee has not played in more than eight games in a season. Despite being the second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is, Southee has failed to impress in IPL.
His last season with Kolkata Knight Riders was also not that good as he was roped in as a replacement for Pat Cummins. He got a chance to play in three games in the second leg where he scalped three wickets. In 43 IPL games, Southee has claimed 31 wickets at an average of 44.77 and has leaked more than 8 runs per over.
Nonetheless, he has been roped in by KKR for second consecutive season and will hope for a decent run in IPL 2022.
