The match no. 22 in the Indian Premier League was nothing short of action as two charismatic skippers in Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant battled it out in Ahmedabad. Both Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore came into this contest on the back of four wins in five matches and it was expectedly a much-anticipated clash.
After losing the toss, RCB came out to bat but had a rare disappointing outing. The top order failed to get going with the side once reeling at 60/3 in 8.3 overs. However, it was the AB de Villiers show that followed as the South African cricketer took the bowlers to the cleaners. The 37-year-old played an explosive knock (75* off 42 deliveries) to take the total to 171/5 in 20 overs. To add to the drama, there was a delay in start of second innings as ABD storm was followed by an extraordinary sandstorm in Ahmedabad.

In reply, Delhi Capitals looked completely out of the game at a time with the score reading 92/4 in 12.4 overs. However, Rishabh Pant (58* off 46) and Shimron Hetmyer (53* off 25) produced valiant efforts to get their side back into the contest. With the match going down the last over, it was Mohammed Siraj who kept his nerves as Delhi fell short by only 1 run as RCB went back top of the table.
