Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma continued to amaze fans as one of his hilarious comments on the stump mic went viral during 1st ODI against Sri Lanka. Playing at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the Men in Blue were in control thanks to an incredible bowling effort where the Lankans weren't allowed to score quick runs.
After a decent opening spell by the fast bowlers, the Indian captain brought on all-rounder Shivam Dube who also chipped in with the wicket of Kusal Mendis. Then as Dube looked threatening with the ball, the medium pacer sent out a delivery down the leg side which generated a sound but was deemed wide.

Here the Indian team got into an impromptu discussion where Rohit Sharma enquired with KL Rahul and Dube if there was an edge. After not getting what he wanted, Sharma said, "tum log ko 'wo' bolna chahiye ki bat laga hai ya pad." (You should be telling if the ball hit the bat or pad.)
At the toss, Rohit Sharma spoke about Team India's approach in the ODIs after their defeat in the final of the 2023 50-over World Cup. Sharma said, "Good pitch. We have played a lot of cricket here and know the conditions. There has been a lot of changes; I am back, so is Virat, KL and Shreyas Iyer. Kuldeep also comes back in. Dube is also playing. We have a pretty decent balance."
"We had a great World Cup, we didn't cross the finishing line but there were a lot of positives. We have created an atmosphere where guys can come in and play with freedom. Not really (on whether he will bowl), I will focus on my batting. We have enough bowlers in the squad that can roll their arm over."
