Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas surprised the football world as he came out as gay. The legendary player took to Twitter to announce about his sexuality and urged the fans to respect his decision. Many fans applauded Casillas for coming out in public. However, it seems now that all was a joke. Soon after the tweet went viral, the Spanish legend deleted the tweet.
However, a Spanish publication AS has claimed that the footballer posted this as a way for the tabloids to stop writing about his personal life. Notably, Casillas was linked with popstar and Barcelona player Gerad Pique’s ex-wife Shakira. However, the former Porto player had rubbished the news. He shared images of news articles on Instagram and said: “Touch your nose. OMG [Oh My God].”
Twitter was not happy with Casillas and called the footballer 'pathetic' for using LGBTQ as joke.
