The former UFC fighter, Tyron Woodley, has announced a boxing match with Manny Pacquiao, scheduled for later this year, during an Instagram live. After seeing through his eight-year contract with the UFC in 2021, which saw him become the welterweight champion in the promotion, the 41-year-old has competed in a couple of matches in his professional boxing career.
In the year 2021, Tyron Woodley competed against Jake Paul in two professional boxing fights within a span of a few months, getting defeated in both. Woodley lost the first match to Paul by a split decision with the judges' scorecard reading 77-75, 75-77, 74-78, while the second time, he was knocked out in the sixth round when he was behind on the judges' scorecard.
With the 0-2 record as a professional boxer, it will be a daunting task for Tyron Woodley to compete against a former eight-division world champion in Manny Pacquiao. However, the Filipino boxing legend, 45, is yet to confirm the claims from the former MMA fighter in regard to their upcoming fight.
Notably, Manny Pacquiao had recently made his intention about taking on Floyd Mayweather Jr in Japan at RIZIN 40. Pacquiao also wanted to compete at the Paris 2024 for Philippines, but it won’t be possible because the IOC upheld the maximum age limit for boxers in the competition to 40.
