Renowned Zimbabwe all-rounder and former captain was rumoured to have breathed last on Tuesday, August 22 after suffering from a prolonged illness. The former cricketer, who is said to have been battling against cancer was later confirmed that he continues to live after another former international cricketer Henry Olonga confirmed their conversation.
Just minutes ago, the former international shared screenshot of the conversation he had with Streak. In the screenshot Heath Streak wrote, “Very much alive…pse revert this runout IMMEDIATELY buddy.” To this, Olonga replied with a laughing emojis, “Ha ha. So good to hear. This thing grew legs quickly. You died overnight brother.”
The 49-year-old Streak has been undergoing treatment in South Africa after being diagnosed with colon and liver cancer, as indicated by close friends and family.
Talking about the numbers, Streak had played a pivotal role in Zimbabwe cricket during 1990s and early 2000s. His illustrious career boasts of 65 Tests and 189 ODIs, he played between 1993 and 2005. He also has amassed 1990 runs and scalped 216 wickets in his Test cricket, along with 2943 runs and 239 wickets in ODIs.
