Brazil winger Vinicius Junior is set to be Real Madrid’s new number seven for the 2023-23 season as Eden Hazard vacates the iconic shirt number. The 22-year-old had another great 2022-23 season for the Los Blancos and further grew into the team’s attacking focal point amidst an injury-riddled year for striker Karim Benzema.
Currently, Vini Jr. has been donning the number 20 on the back of his jersey but he along with his Brazilian teammate Rodrygo are set to change their kit numbers for the upcoming season. While Vinicius Junior takes up number seven, Rodrygo will have an 11-number jersey which was worn by Marco Asensio.
This development was confirmed by football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted, “Vinicius Júnior has changed his number as he will wear number 7 next season New shirt number also for Rodrygo who will wear number 11 starting from July.”
