India’s modern day batting icon Virat Kohli reportedly became the highest tax paying sportsperson in the financial year 2023-24. Apart from him, former Indian captain and wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya were the top five tax-paying sportspersons. Kohli has been out of action since India’s white-ball tour against Sri Lanka, and the cricketer will next be seen taking the field during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh from September 19. However, despite that, Kohli has been continuously making headlines. Recently, a report has claimed that the talismanic batter paid the highest tax in the financial year 2023-24.
As per a report by Fortune India, Kohli paid a huge sum of INR 66 Crore as tax in 2023-24, which is the highest among sportspersons. MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar followed Kohli with INR 38 Crore and 28 Crore, respectively, grabbing the next two spots. Not only this, but Hardik Pandya secured the fifth spot in terms of tax paid by Indian sportspersons with INR 13 Crore. On the other hand, the fourth spot was taken by former Indian skipper and the 35th BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly, who paid a tax of INR 23 Crore.
