The IPL 2024 opener saw Chennai Super Kings (CSK) extend their win record over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to 8-1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. After restricting the Faf du Plessis-led side to below 180-run target, the Chennai-based franchise, under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, started their 2024 campaign with a win.
While it was Mustafizur Rahman who starred with the ball for the home side, it was Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja’s crucial partnership along with crucial contributions from Rachin Ravindra (37 off 15), Ruturaj Gaikwad (15 off 15), Ajinkya Rahane (15-ball 27) and Daryl Mitchell that helped CSK get to a winning start.
The Kiwi all-rounder, who had looked in good touch in what was his IPL debut fell the victim of Rajat Patidar’s brilliant catch at deep backward square leg. Batting at 37 runs, Rachin failed to smash the quicker bowled by Karn Sharma. However, the batter went down on his knees in order to play the slog-sweep but failed to hit big, eventually getting caught by Patidar.
Soon after his wicket, which proved to be a big one for the Bengaluru-based franchise, Virat Kohli was captured giving a furious send off to the Kiwi international. In the videos going viral, the RCB star player looked furious as he pointed towards Rachin to walk out of the field.
