Speaking of the match, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss over New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and invited the guests to field first. During the toss, Rohit said, “Whatever we do, we need to do well. I think it was back in 2019 when we played the semis. NZ is one of the most consistent sides. Very important day.”
He added, “Constantly, talking about how important it is about turning up on that day. It is about controlling the controllables.” Sharma played a knock of 47 runs off 29 balls before getting out on a Tim Southee delivery.
