Former India captain and batting stalwart Virat Kohli has reportedly opened up on his past clashes with former India cricketer turned Head Coach, Gautam Gambhir. The duo which is set to unite in the upcoming Sri Lanka ODI series, have decided to let go their past clashes. According to a report by Cricbuzz, Kohli has come forward and communicated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he is ready to move on as it best serves the interest of the Indian cricket team.
Kohli and Gambhir’s feud came into limelight in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. However, this is just one of the many incidents, Kohli, as reported by Cricbuzz has communicated the BCCI officials of forgetting their strained relationships. “Kohli is believed to have stated that previous issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room” and that he has “communicated this clearly to the relevant BCCI officials.”
Moreover, the report adds that these discussions were done after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024 final.
Our relation is not to give masala to the public: Gautam Gambhir on rift with Kohli
Earlier, Gautam Gambhir had opened up on his relation with Virat Kohli. “The perception is far away from reality. My relationship with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn’t need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to the public,” Gambhir had said. Not only this, Kohli also spoke of the relation months after the heated moment took place and added that the “masala is over”.
"People are very disappointed with my behaviour. I hugged Naveen, and then the other day, Gauti bhai [Gautam Gambhir came and hugged me. Your masala is over, so you're booing. We're not kids anymore," Virat Kohli had said during a Puma event.
