Rohit Sharma and Adam Gilchrist were spotted listening to the highly famous Deccan Chargers anthem, reliving their good ol’ days at the former IPL franchise on the latest Club Prairie Fire podcast episode. Notably, in 2009, Adam Gilchrist captained Deccan Chargers to their first and only IPL title, and Rohit Sharma was an integral part of the team.
In the first three years of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit Sharma represented Deccan Chargers under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist. From 2008 to 2010, he played 45 matches for the now-defunct franchise, scoring 1,170 runs at an average of 30.79 and a strike rate of 131.76 before leaving them to join Mumbai Indians, where he became one of the greatest IPL players and captain of all time.
During the closing of the Club Prairie Fire podcast episode, Adam Gilchrist, the former Australia cricketer, brought some nostalgia into the mix, playing the “Go Chargers” anthem of Deccan Chargers on his smartphone. It brought a huge smile to the face of Rohit Sharma, who was vibing to the anthem alongside Adam Gilchrist and the two other hosts on the podcast.
“I don't think any current IPL theme song even comes close to Deccan Chargers song. I still remember that song,” remarked Rohit Sharma after listening to the Deccan Chargers theme.
Moreover, Rohit Sharma is currently an integral part of the Mumbai Indians setup, although in the playing capacity. He had scored his second hundred in the IPL for MI against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but it wasn’t enough for the team to secure a win on the night.
