On Sunday, May 12, during the second T20I of the three-match series between Ireland and Pakistan at the Castle Avenue in Dublin, a fan of Afghanistan abused the star pacer Shaheen Afridi. The incident took place when Shaheen Afridi was walking to the ground from Pakistan’s cricket team, which prompted the security to remove the fan from the ground.
In a viral clip on the X platform, Shaheen Afridi initially ignored the foul language used by the Afghan fan against him, informing the security personnel about the incident. But since the fan didn’t stop with the abusive words, kept misbehaving with him, the security acted on the matter swifty as per the Geo News report.
Notably, after losing the first T20I of the three-match series to Ireland by five wickets with a ball remaining, Pakistan were under pressure to turn things around. The captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to field first at Castle Avenue in Dublin.
Lorcan Tucker scored a fantastic fifty for the hosts, playing a key role in helping them post a score 193/7, while Shaheen Afridi picked up three wickets. In the run chase, the Pakistan cricket team lost two quick wickets, including Saim Ayub for six, while Babar Azam didn’t trouble the scorers either.
Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan steadied the innings for the visitors before taking the attack to the opposition, reaching their fifties in the process. They stitched together a 140-run stand for the third wicket, to put Pakistan in control before Azam Khan put the finishing touches, finishing the match inside 17 overs.
The seven-wicket win for Pakistan was enough for them to level the series 1-1, with the third T20I against Ireland set to happen on Tuesday, May 14.
