Indian fast bowler Akash Deep produced magical back-to-back deliveries to uproot two consecutive wickets against Bangladesh. India clashed against Bangladesh for the two-match Test series, which began on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Having put to bat first in the opening game, the hosts posted a score of 376 runs in 91.2 overs, all thanks to Ravichandran Ashwin’s 113 runs and Ravindra Jadeja’s 86-run knock in 124 deliveries. 

In return, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side were hopeful of starting off on a positive note and regain the lost control of the game. However, Jasprit Bumrah landed an early blow in the first over itself as he dis missed opener Shadman Islam on the score 2 runs off 6 deliveries. The visitors were eyeing no further damage when Akash Deep delivered absolute magic with the ball.

Akash Deep seemed to be in mood of further adding to Bangladesh’s damage as he picked two consecutive wickets. The Indian pacer dismissed Zakir Hasan with a ripper and then followed it with another delivery that uprooted Mominul Haque on the first and second deliveries of the ninth over. Hasan was forced to walk back after scoring just three runs while Haque walked back on a golden duck. 

After the bowler’s heroics, Bangladesh slipped to 22/3 and while the bowler aimed for further damage, he narrowly missed out on his hattrick. The visitors ended the session at 26/3 in nine overs and trailed India by 350 runs on Day 2 of the first Test in Chennai.
