Pakistan captain Babar Azam, accepted a gift from a die-hard fan during their Group A clash against India in Asia Cup 2023 on September 2, Saturday. At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, the 28-year-old was happy to receive a token of appreciation from one of his fans, before shaking their hand as a thank-you gesture.
Notably, during the big match, Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, won the toss and chose to bat first against Pakistan. But, the Indian cricket team was rocked early by Shaheen Afridi, who castled Rohit Sharma, before Virat Kohli suffered a similar fate too.
Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer didn’t trouble the scorers much as India was reduced to 66-4 in the 15th over. Then, Hardik Pandya joined Ishan Kishan in the middle to take the attack to the opposition, before managing to stitch together a 138-run stand for the fifth wicket.
During one of the rain breaks in the Indian innings, Babar Azam was recorded on camera, taking a fan’s gift. Nibraz Ramdan, a cricket writer, shared the video of the same, on his official Twitter account with a caption, “A Sri Lankan Die Hard Fan of Babar Azam gifted a Memento to his idol during the rain break in yesterday’s #PAKVIND game and king Babar accepted it with a smile. What a guy he babar is.. #AsiaCup23”.

Moreover, Pakistan managed to bowl out India for 266 in the 49th over, with their fast bowlers sharing all 10 wickets amongst themselves, including Shaheen Afridi (4-35), Naseem Shah (3-36), and Haris Rauf (3-58). But then, the rains kept pouring down at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, leading to India vs Pakistan ending in a no result.
