Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam was once again on fans’ radar during one of the Pakistan Super League clashes between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans. The Pakistan top batter, who is often known for his calm and composed demeanour, lost his cool and threatened to throw the water bottle at fans. Azam, who stepped down from the role of Pakistan’s captain during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, is currently leading Zalmi in Pakistan’s top-tier cricket league.
The veteran batter has often been targeted by ‘Zimbabar’ chants due to his poor performance in recent years against big teams. Fans have mocked Babar with the ‘Zimbabar’ word, which has been derived from Babar's outstanding form against Zimbabwe. Notably, Azam has played 18 matches against Zimbabwe, where he has scored 693 runs, averaging at 57.75. His critics believe that Azam performs only against weak teams, including Zimbabwe.
