Star Pakistan batter and former skipper Babar Azam on Monday, March 11 expressed his dissatisfaction on being demoted to number three position in the Pakistan batting lineup. The 29-year-old batter, who is currently featuring in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, opened up on his experience at batting at No. 3 position.

Speaking on the sidelines of PSL after his side, Peshawar Zalmi registered two-run win over Karachi Kings, Babar Azam said, “I don’t feel or take any pressure whenever I open the innings (in T20Is). The team was demanding me to come down to No. 3 and I did it for the team.” But when asked of his personal preference, he added, “I was not satisfied with the move, but I did it for Pakistan.”

It is to be noted that Babar Azam previously opened the innings for the side along with Mohammad Rizwan until the home series against New Zealand in April 2023. But during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand, Babar Azam came out at No. 3 with Rizwan opening with Haseebullah Khan.

However, this shift might be in the national side Babar continue to open for his PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi. Talking about the 2024 season of PSL, Babar is currently the leading run-scorer of the season. He has amassed 498 runs in nine innings, at an average of 62.25 and strike rate of 148.65.

The Peshawar Zalmi skipper, Babar Azam was left stunned as the spider camera approached him during the mid-innings break. As the Peshawar Zalmi took the field after putting 148-run target on the board, the former Pak skipper bend down as soon as the camera approached him.

Talking about the Peshawar Zalmi, after their two-run win over Karachi Kings in what was their final league stage fixture in the PSL 2024, reclaimed the top spot. They mostly take on Multan Sultans in the Qualifier of the PSL 2024 on Thursday, March 14 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
