The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) provisionally suspended Tokyo Olympics medallist Bajrang Punia ahead of his Paris Olympics trials. As reported by IndiaToday.in. Punia refused to give samples for doping tests during the trials held at Sonipat in March. He refused to give urine samples during the trials after he stormed off the premises following his loss against Rohit Kumar.

The 30-year-old wrestler left the Sports Authority of India (SAI) premises in a hurry after he got eliminated. While NADA tried to collect his samples, he didn’t stay back even for his third-fourth-place bout. Punia had trained in Russia for the trials, being oragnised by the IOA ad-hoc panel.

I never refused giving samples to NADA officials: Bajrang Punia

Punia issued a clarification about being suspended from the Anti-Doping Agency and said that the rumours of him denying giving samples to the officials aren't true. Punia posted a video on his social media and accompanied it with a caption. It read, " I want to clarify the news about me being asked to take a dope test!!! I never refused to give my sample to NADA officials, I requested them to first answer me as to what action they took on the expired kit they brought to take my sample, and then take my dope test."

He added, "My lawyer Vidush Singhania will reply to this letter in time."
