Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has sparked speculation about his future by doing a preseason workout in an AC Milan shirt. The French international was seen wearing the jersey of his friend and compatriot Theo Hernandez, who plays as a left-back for the Rossoneri. Pavard has expressed his wish to seek a new experience to Die Roten.

The French defender has a year left on his contract, so Bayern will want to offload him this summer. A bidding war between two major Italian teams might take place in the summer, giving the German Champions a good price for him. Pavard joined Bayern from Stuttgart in 2019 for €35m and has won two Bundesliga titles and the Champions League with the German giants. The versatile defender can play as a right-back or a centre-back and has made 162 appearances for Bayern.

However, the defender did not feature regularly in the last season and he could be tempted by a new challenge in Italy. Theo Hernandez, who joined Milan from Real Madrid in 2019, has been one of the best performers for the Rossoneri, scoring 24 goals and providing 28 assists in 167 games. He is also close friends with Pavard, as they both played for France at youth level and won the U19 European Championship together in 2016.

Pavard's choice of shirt could be seen as a hint that he is open to joining Milan, or it could simply be a gesture of support for his friend. Either way, it has certainly caught the attention of the fans and the media, who are wondering if Pavard could be the next French star to wear the red and black stripes.
