The Portugal international and one of the greats of football, Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly the most followed athlete in the world and several eminent personalities look upto him as an icon. While his style and trademark celebrations are often emulated by sports celebrities all over the world, an instance of the same was visible recently in one of the exhibition programs ahead of the US Open 2024.

T he former world no. 1 and reigning Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz was seen bringing in his inner Cristiano Ronaldo during one of the entertainment programs ahead of the final major of tennis this year. The Spaniard kicked a big tennis ball into the net on the other side, in an attempt of a freekick and soon after netting the ball, he celebrated with a Ronaldo’s trademark ‘Suiii’, video of which is going viral.

This gesture of Alcaraz was largely applauded by the crowd. The young tennis sensation is all set to take the court in the upcoming US Open in New York, starting Monday, August 26. He will start the night’s action at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday as he is set to take on Australia’s Li Tu. 

Carlos Alcaraz brushes aside injury concerns after twisting his ankle during practice session

Carlos Alcaraz, who will be eying his fifth major title at the US Open 2024, opened up on his injury concerns after he had twisted his ankle in one of the practice sessions on Saturday, August 24. Although, the Spaniard was forced to stop his practice midway after twisting his right ankle in a practice game against Francisco Cerundulo.

However, this left several fans worried on Alcaraz’s participation at the upcoming tennis major, but he later shared an update. “I think it is ok. I just stopped my practice just for precaution. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to keep practicing, just in case if everything is going to be worse,” he said as quoted by ESPN. 

“I don’t want to stop any practice. I want to practice, I want to get better, I want to get ready for the tournament. I’m sure that tomorrow, or in two days, I’m going to be at 100%, for sure,” he added.
