Former Jamaican cricketer Chris Gayle hit four consecutive sixes in a Legends League clash against India Capitals. Gayle, who is currently a part of the T20I league featuring former cricketers achieved the feat against Ashley Nurse. Gujarat Giants, led by Parthiv Patel, locked horns with Gautam Gambhir’s India Capitals squad in the Eliminator of the Legends League on December 6 at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium, Surat. Gujarat Giants skipper, Patel, won the toss and invited his rivals to bat first.

Capitals rode on skipper Gambhir’s half-century and posted a target of 224 runs in 20 overs with a loss of seven wickets. In return, the Gujarat opener, Chris Gayle smashed a brilliant 84 runs in just 55 deliveries to help his side get off on a good note. The Universe Boss, as he is widely known, hit four consecutive maximums followed by a four to score 29 runs in one over.

The former Jamaican player achieved the feat off Ashley Nurse’s over in the 14th over of Gujarat’s innings. He later got out on an Isuru Udana delivery in the 19th over after scoring 84 runs. However, Gayle’s outstanding start to their inning couldn’t help Parthiv Patel’s team achieve the targeted score and they lost the game by 11 runs.
With their defeat, Gujarat were knocked out of the final race of the ongoing tournament. India Capitals, on the other hand, will now lock horns with Manipal Tigers, who were defeated by Urban Risers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 1 of the season. The Qualifier 2 will take place on December 7, Thursday, and the winner will proceed to the finale, where they will clash against Hyderabad for the coveted trophy.
