Former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington got trolled by a Jorge Masvidal fan on January 9. Covington was in attendance at the NBA clash between the Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets in Florida. While the MMA star was walking through the stands, he got trolled by a Masvidal fan, which left him annoyed. Covington and Masvidal were once training partners and good friends. However, the relationship between them went downhill when the latter made some stunning claims.
‘Gambered’ had claimed that ‘Chaos’ didn’t pay one of his beloved coaches the amount he owed. However, it didn’t sit well with Covington as he not only refused the claims but intensified the fight by taking personal digs at his ex-friend. There are reports that the 35-year-old also questioned Masvidal as a father. Both fighters locked horns in UFC 272 in March 2022, where Covington defeated Masvidal via unanimous decision.
Things got heated up when Masvidal allegedly attacked Covington in a restaurant in Miami Beach and was later arrested. During the NBA clash, a fan approached Covington and said, “Hey, this is Jorge's city, brother. This is Jorge's city, 305 Masvidal, Colby goodbye." This left the MMA fighter annoyed and had some words for the troll. Later, someone from his entourage spoke with the fan after which he replied, "Do something then. I don't even know who you are."
Notably, Covington is coming off a loss to UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 296. After his loss, Chael Sonnen said, "He fought the reigning ‘BMF’ champion, dominated him, and never became ‘BMF’ champion. I think that there’s some real frustrations. I just don’t know if he wants to start over. That’s the hard truth. I don’t know that we see Colby Covington again.”
