A video has went viral on social media, where Congolese women's club DC Motema Pembe players chased and beat down a referee after the official failed to award the penalty during a match against TP Mazembe in the DR Congo Women's League.

The shocking and chaotic incident took place when DC Motema Pembe were losing 5-1 to TP Mazembe and the referee turned down their appeal for penalty after one of the Motema Pembe players was brought down in the box by the opponent side.
In the video shared on the social media, the referee appeared to run away from the field as Motema Pembe players ran after him, trying to catch him. The referee then ran outside the ground, unfortunately, the women players on the bench caught him and started throwing punches as they were joined by the on-field players. While staff members tried to intervene, the opponent team's players stood in the ground and were left shocked by the violent outburst.

After the referee was brutally kicked and punched by the female players, the Congolese Football Association reportedly suspended the players who were involved in the horrific incident and opened an investigation into the matter, according to news outlet GhanaWeb.
