Sawai Mansingh Stadium is known as the fortress of Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2008 champions have recorded a lot of memorable moments. Back in 2008, Sohail Tanvir clinched only six-wicket haul for RR at this iconic venue, with his 6/14 figures against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The stadium has always been special for supporters as they get to watch their favourite team and players in action at this venue. This year, RR will play their first game in Jaipur after finishing their first five games of the season. As RR has also chosen Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium as their home ground, they will host a couple of games in the city of the north-eastern state as well before squaring off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Jaipur on April 13.
However, a video of a cricket fan is getting viral on social media as he can be seen showing the pathetic condition of the stadium. In the clip on Instagram, he showed how shattered seats are there in the stands and filth is also all around the stadium. Sawai Mansingh Stadium will host five games this season and following the viral video, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will be expected to break into the scene to make the conditions in the stadium comfortable to relish the upcoming games at the venue.
RR face 44-run defeat in their opening IPL 2025 contest against SRH
Rajasthan Royals have kicked off their IPL 2025 campaign with a crushing 44-run loss at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Pursuing a huge target of 287, RR scored 242 runs in their 20 overs but that couldn’t avoid their defeat. Their next clash will be against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, who will travel to Guwahati after their seven-wicket loss against RCB at the Eden Gardens in the opening match of the competition.
The Pink Army won their games against KKR in the last two seasons and they will look to bring down Kolkata again in the upcoming game at the Barsapara Stadium. After hosting KKR in Guwahati, RR will also clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati on March 31.
