Delhi Metro echoed with the chants of ‘Perry Perry’ and ‘RCB, RCB’ after the Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians to make their way to the WPL 2024 final. Smriti Mandhana-led side took down the defending champions in the last-over thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on March 15, Friday, in a blockbuster final-over thriller. The Bengaluru-based franchise will now lock horns with Delhi Capitals on March 17.
The match saw Ellyse Perry, once again rising to the occasion and playing a significant role in guaranteeing her side a remarkable victory. Perry picked a six-wicket haul in the league stage clash against Mumbai in WPL 2024. Later, in the Friday-night's Eliminator, she contributed much-needed 66 runs in 50 balls and went on to pick one wicket as well.
After RCB’s thrilling five-run win over Mumbai, the Delhi metro was taken over by fans’ chants of ‘Perry, Perry’ and ‘RCB, RCB’. In the videos doing rounds on social media, metro passengers could be seen chanting for the Smriti Mandhana-led side and the star of the night. Notably, Perry is currently the Orange Cap holder of the WPL 2024 with 312 runs in eight games, averaging at 62.40. Apart from that, the Australian all-rounder has picked a total of seven wickets in the tournament.
Talking about the finale, Delhi Capitals Women reserved their second consecutive finale berth by ruling the WPL 2024 charts. RCB Women, on the other hand, had to overcome a curvy journey to secure their maiden finale seat. The upcoming finale will give both teams a chance to script history and lift their first-ever trophy.
