During his appearance at the “Real 92.3 LA”, when Devin Haney was put on the spot, he called Jake Paul a better boxer than Ryan Garcia. The comments from The Dream came a couple of weeks before he is scheduled to defend his WBC Super Lightweight Championship against Ryan Garcia in a DAZN Boxing PPV event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 20.
The build-up to the upcoming championship match between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia has been full of trash-talking from both the champion and the challenger. Haney had already called out Garcia, his long-time rival in the boxing world, for doing the “same things” inside the squared circle, to which the KingRy called his words, “tank s***.”
When one of the “Real 92.3 LA” hosts asked Devin Haney about whether Ryan Garcia is closer to Jake Paul than him, he responded, “Yeah, I mean know uh, Jake Paul. Jake Paul actually trains. I know Jake Paul well, and he trains so uh, and he’s focused.” Following this, one of the other hosts was heard saying, “Ok, Devin Haney just said Jake Paul’s more of a boxer than Ryan Garcia.”
After hearing all that, Devin Haney had a huge smile on his face when he said, “Jake Paul closer to me than Ryan,” making the entire panel burst out into laughter.
Moreover, Jake Paul is set to compete inside the squared circle against Mike Tyson on July 20, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. This boxing match is reportedly scheduled to be an “exhibition,” but nothing is confirmed as of yet.
