The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 18. In what was a do-or-die clash for both the sides, it was the Faf du Plessis-led side who came out on top to seal the fourth and final playoffs berth in the IPL 2024.
After RCB’s 27-run win against CSK, wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik called MS Dhoni’s massive six as the turning point in the game. Dhoni, who was up against RCB’s Yash Dayal needed 17 runs off final over. The veteran keeper-batter smashed the first ball of the 20th over for a six, leaving 11 runs off four balls. This six did massive damage to CSK than RCB as the officials called for a new ball.
“MS Dhoni hitting that six outside the ground was the best thing that happened,” Dinesh Karthik exclaimed. “It gave us a new ball which was much better to bowl with,” he further added revealing the reason behind that massive six.

This astonishing revelation on MS Dhoni’s six got epic reaction from teammate and former RCB skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli, who is known to wear his emotions on his sleeves, was seen in joyous disbelief, animatedly celebrating Dayal’s heroics in the final over of the CSK inning.
The Indian batter admitted that the new ball made a big difference for RCB and dew playing its role.
