The 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and SunRisers Hyderabad displayed a high-voltage action as several records were broken during the game. While SRH improved their record of the highest total by scoring 287 runs, Dinesh Karthik smashed the longest six of the ongoing season in RCB's 25-run loss to SRH at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.
Travis Head ran riot against RCB as he smashed eight sixes and nine fours to register a 41-ball 102 runs followed by Heinrich Klaasen's 67-off-31 and Abdul Samad's unbeaten cameo of 37 runs in just 10 balls. In response, Dinesh Karthik led the RCB batters with his 83 runs in 35 balls followed by skipper Faf du Plessis (62-off-28), and Virat Kohli (42-off-20).
RCB got off to a spectacular start with Virat and Faf leading from the front, however, the RCB middle-order collapsed, making way for Dinesh Karthik. The 38-year-old RCB wicketkeeper-batter smashed seven sixes and five fours to take the game close and in the process smashed the longest six of the IPL 2024, which measured a whopping 108 metres. On the first ball of the 16th over, Karthik smashed T. Natarajan's delivery so hard that it hit the roof of the Chinnaswamy.
