The first day of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh saw Ravichandran Ashwin dominate the opposition bowlers in front of his home crowd at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. When the 38-year-old reached his fifty in the afternoon sun, his teammates, coaching staff, and the fans gave him a standing ovation, and among them, an elderly lady captured the attention of social media, and shortly after, she featured in the short clip from the BCCI on their official X account.

Notably, Ravichandran Ashwin had walked out to bat in the second session of the first Test match when India were reduced to 144/6 on a pitch in Chennai, which assisted the fast bowlers quite a lot in the first half of the day. He and Ravindra Jadeja took the attack to the Bangladesh bowlers, to bring India firmly back into the Test match before taking control of the proceedings in the final session of play.

Ravichandran Ashwin scored his second Test hundred in Chennai

Following a fifty for Ravichandran Ashwin in his home Test match, the BCCI took to their official X account, to post a video of the moment, wherein the elderly lady got spotted cheering for the Indian all-rounder. They captioned the post, “An applause for @ashwinravi99 across ages!,” wherein the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and the rest of the members of the Indian cricket team were also applauding him from the dressing room.

Before the close of play on day one, Ravichandran Ashwin brought up his sixth Test hundred in Indian colours, to put the team in a commanding position after finding themselves in trouble earlier in the day. He stitched together a 195-run unbeaten stand with Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 86 not out off 117, and their efforts helped propel the team to 339/6 at stumps on day one.

On the second day, Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently not out on 102 off 112, will be looking to take the Indian cricket team beyond 400, which could be a well above par first innings total on a Chennai pitch, which is favouring the pacers currently.
