Perth Scorchers' opener Beth Mooney got her side a good start as she remained not out at 91 runs in 57 deliveries. Perth posted a total of 189 at the loss of six wickets in 20 overs, which could have extended beyond 200 if not for Burns’ on-field heroics. In the 18th over of Scorchers’ innings, when Mooney was batting alongside Amy Jones, Burns took a stunning catch to put an end to Jones’ innings.

The English cricketer lofted an Ellyse Perry delivery towards the boundary on the off side. The 35-year-old Australian cricketer standing near the boundary rope perfectly judged the catch and ran forward before diving low to claim the blinder. Burns managed to avoid clashing with Sixers teammate Maitlan Brown, who was also tracking the ball.
Jones was forced to walk back to the pavilion at a score of 28 runs off 13 deliveries. Speaking of the match, Sixers failed to chase the 190-run target and ended up losing the game by a margin of 61 runs.
