An enthusiastic Indian fan continued waving the Indian flag celebrating the Blue Tigers' goal despite being stopped by a volunteer in the Asian Games 2023 opener against China. The Indian team suffered a horrific 1-5 loss against the hosts at the Huanglong Sports Centre in Hangzhou.

After conceding an 11th-minute goal, Rahul KP levelled the scores in the 45th minute as zoomed through the flanks before rifling a shot in at the near post past the Chinese keeper. Naturally, the goal brought a wave of joy to the fans present in the stadium. There was one such fan in the stands, who was celebrating with the national flag.
Just as the supporter stood up to celebrate, an Asian Games volunteer, came and told the Indian to sit down. But the euphoric fan refused to take any orders and continued celebrating like a proud Indian.

But after this goal, things took drastic for Team India as China smashed score four more goals, concluding a dominant display. Dai Weijun (51' ), Tao Qianglong (72') (75') and Hao Fang ( 90+2' ) found the back of the net to give them an emphatic victory in the opening encounter.
