The Big Bash League season 12 is underway in Australia. In the only match of Tuesday (27 December), Brisbane Heat who won the toss could not end the match in their favour. With the win going in Sydney Thunder’s favour, they finally let go their position to come up in the points table.
Chasing a paltry total of 122 runs, Thunder went on to win the game by 10 wickets and fifty balls to be spared at the Sydney Showground Stadium. Thunder openers Matthew Gilkes and Alex Hales helped the side register a thumping win on the back of individual half-centuries.
In Gilkes’ innings of 56*, he hit six fours and three maximums. But during this run-chase, one of Gilkes’ six hit a fan in the stands. On the sixth delivery of the eleventh over, the on-strike batter hit Brisbane Heat spinner Mitchell Swepson for a maximum over long-on. Trying to collect the ball in the stands, one middle-aged fan injured himself while collecting a catch.
