As Nottingham Forest defeated Sheffield United enter a historic championship playoff final to end their Premier League drought. The Tricky Trees sealed their ticket to the final with a penalty shootout, where their keeper Brice Samba pulled off an outstanding performance as he saved four penalties. After the game, the crowd couldn't contain their excitement as they rushed onto the ground.
But in this massive field invasion, an unfortunate event took place as a man named Robert Biggs was seen headbutting Sheffield United captain Billy Sharp. The culprit is now arrested as Sharp was bleeding and needed stitches after the attack.
While passing the sentence on Biggs, District Judge Grace Leong said, “The video clip proves to me that you were running towards Billy Sharp and that you dodged all the other spectators to get towards him. I am of the view that it was a targeted act of aggression... even if it was not premeditated.”
“The forceful impact resulted in a very unpleasant injury to Mr Sharp. You must have seen him fall over but you did not stop to check if he was alright or whether he was seriously injured. This is so serious that a custodial sentence must be imposed,” the District Judge added.
Nottingham Forest also released a statement addressing the issue that said, “The Club will work with the authorities to locate the individual in order they are held to account for their actions, which will include a life ban from Nottingham Forest. The Club would also like to apologise to Billy personally and to Sheffield United Football Club.”
