The Asian Champions Trophy 2023 has reached its end with India already booking their berth in the final. The Harmanpreet Singh-led side put up a brilliant performance to outclass defending champions Japan 5-0 in the semifinal on Friday, August 11.

During the course of the game, the fans present at the mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Japan were also elated with the team’ performance and in a moment they were caught singing ‘Jai Ho’ up all synced. During the crucial match between Japan and India, the crowd was spotted syncing with the chorus of AR Rahman’s Oscar winning song ‘Jai Ho’.

Earlier, the spectators synced to ‘Vande Mataram’ during their quarterfinal match against Pakistan.

 

Talking about the match, the first quarter of the semifinal was goalless with India trying to push Japanese defence on the backfoot, but the defending champions stood firm. However, the second quarter was the all the way different, and the India attackers went past the Japan defence to put a lead in the 19th minute, followed by goals in the 23rd minute by the skipper. Leading the first half 3-0, the hosts scored in the 39th and 51st minute to seal the match and book a place in the summit clash.

 

India will be playing Malaysia in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy 2023 on August 12 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium.
