The La Liga 2024-25 fixture between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid was interrupted when the spectators started throwing things on the ground. Due to this, the match was suspended for 20 minutes. The players were sent back to the dressing room and no game could take place for the next 20 minutes. As the situation couldn’t come to control, Atletico Madrid midfielder, Koke and manager Diego Simeone had to go near the stands and ask the fans to stop throwing things to the pitch.

Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid settled on a 1-1 draw at Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid on Monday, September 30. Eder Militao scored the first goal of the match for Real Madrid in the 64th minute. After that, Angel Correa settled the score for a draw in the 90+5 minutes. Atletico Madrid will next take on Real Sociedad in their upcoming La Liga fixture on October 7, while Real Madrid will face Villarreal on October 6.

People who have committed incidents should be sanctioned by the club: Diego Simeone

Koke and Diego Simeone asked the fans several times to behave, while the latter wasn’t happy with the fans throwing things to the ground during a football match. He said that such people shouldn’t be given entry at the stadium and must be sanctioned by the club.  “My opinion is that people who have committed incidents should be sanctioned by the club. We don’t need these people. We need the people who accompany and support us. They harm the club, but be careful: that does not justify generating situations that we, the protagonists, generate,” Simeone was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera.

“The people who have thrown those lighters, it’s not right. But maybe it doesn’t help when us, the protagonists, undermine people, charge against people, provoke people and then people get angry,” he further added.
