On Sunday, September 1, Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari driver, won the F1 Italian Grand Prix in front of the adoring home team fans at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. This was the second win of the ongoing Formula 1 season for Charles Leclerc after an emotional triumph for the first-time ever in his home race in Monaco earlier in the summer.

Notably, the Italian Grand Prix began with the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri with a front road lockout. Norris, who was in the pole position, was pipped by his teammate Piastri in the opening lap of the race, to take the lead, while Leclerc also managed to find himself in second place.

After Lando Norris got the undercut done on Charles Leclerc during the first pit-stop sequence, while Oscar Piastri managed to find himself two places ahead of his teammates. Following a consultation with Ferrari, Leclerc decided to go for the one-stop strategy, pitting around the 20th lap mark.

The Italian Grand Prix ultimately came down to Piastri and Norris chasing after Leclerc with better tyres, but the man from Monaco managed to keep both the McLarens at bay. Charles Leclerc ended up winning the 53-lap race ahead of Oscar Piastri by 2.664 seconds, while Lando Norris took the final place on the podium 6.153 second behind.

I want to win Monza and Monaco every year: Charles Leclerc

“It is an incredible feeling. I thought the second time, if there was a second time, would not feel as special as the first, but the emotions over the last few laps were the same as 2019. I want to win Monza and Monaco every year and I have managed to do so. It is so, so special,” said Charles Leclerc after winning the Italian Grand Prix, the seventh F1 race triumph of his career.
