Indian men's team's new head coach Gautam Gambhir concluded his first practice session in Sri Lanka a head of the white-ball series. Gambir and Men in Blue will be in action in T20Is against the Lankans in Pallekele on July 27 for a three-game series. After the T20I leg, Team India will lock horns in a three-game ODI series in Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium.
On Monday, July 22, the Indian cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka for the white-ball series. Gautam Gambhir, the new head coach of India, was spotted alongside players and support staff, walking out of the Colombo airport. Then today, the Men in Blue had their first practice session under Gautam Gambhir, kick-starting a new era for Indian cricket.

Speaking about this new role, Gambhir, in a press conference before SL tour said, "I have always said that a happy dressing room is a winning dressing room. That's my responsibility. For me, I don't complicate too many things. I am taking over a very, very successful team. T20 World champions, runner-up in World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup. There are issues to fill, but this is a champions' team."
