The ‘Big Show’ or ‘Mad Max’ lived up to his moniker to rescue the side, which was reeling at 126/7 at one point, to a three-wicket win with his unbeaten knock of 201 off 128 deliveries. With his innings which included 21 fours and 10 sixes, orchestrated an improbable win, leaving not only the cricketing fraternity stunned but even the others in disbelief.
Battling cramps, Maxwell played the inning with pure determination. However, in one of the videos shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Maxwell, who struggling with pain fell on the ground on his way to 147th run and stood still for some moments as he seemed to have emulated The Undertaker’s move. Australian physio, Nick Jones, who rushed to check on the all-rounder however advised him that it would be challenging to return to the game if he left the field of play.
However, at the other end, Adam Zampa, the next man to take the field walked down the stairs, but Maxwell continued his knock, hitting a double ton and turning the tables to take the match the Aussies way.
Notably, not only did the ICC notice this struggling Maxwell’s gesture similar to the WWE star, fans also drew parallels between the plight of the batter with that of the WWE icon, The Undertaker.
