Vintage India spinner Harbhajan Singh came to bat without his abdominal guard during the one-off T20 charity match on January 18, Thursday. Singh was a part of the One World team featured in the One World One Family Cup charity match hosted in Bengaluru. Notably, several former cricketers from different nations returned to the cricket field during the one-off T20 game on Thursday. The match featuring cricket legends was hosted by the Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission to raise awareness regarding child healthcare.
In the game that took place at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Sathya Sai Grama, Singh was a part of Sachin Tendulkar-led the One World team. While seeing former cricketers taking on the ground was enough to send fans on a nostalgic trip, Singh was involved in a comic incident. During the One World's innings, the 43-year-old came to bat without his abdominal guard.
As he realised it halfway through the field, Singh had no other option but to borrow the guard from rival wicketkeeper and compatriot Parthiv Patel's guard. The incident left everyone including One Family captain Yuvraj Singh in splits, and in no time, it went viral on social media.
Talking about the match, One Family were invited to bat first and they posted a total of 180 with the loss of six wickets. Apart from scoring four runs off two balls, Harbhajan Singh picked two wickets for the Tendulkar-led side. In the second inning, Alviro Petersen contributed 74 runs off 50 balls to help the side chase down the target easily. The captain pulled up 27 runs in 16 balls to guide the side to a four-wicket win over Yuvraj Singh and Co.
