The Indian women’s team and the support staff were spotted celebrating their big Test win against England in style at the DY Patil Stadium, in a video posted on their official Instagram account. On Sunday, December 16, India managed to demolish the challenge of England within seven sessions of the Test, defeating them by a whopping margin of 347 runs.

The atmosphere in the Indian dressing room was full of excitement and laughter with the players looking forward to a party later on. The head coach of the Indian women’s team Amol Muzumdar also said a few words in the video, appreciating the players before emphasising the need for them to keep on smiling.

On day 1, the Indian women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to bat first on a very good pitch at the DY Patil Stadium. India managed to post a massive first innings of 428 runs on the board in 104.3 overs with Satheesh Shubha, Jemimah Rodrigues, Yastika Bhatia, and Deepti Sharma going past 60s.

In response, apart from a quick-fire fifty from Nat Sciver-Brunt on day 2, England were dismissed for 136 runs in 35.4 overs with Deepti Sharma picking up figures of 5-7. Instead of enforcing the follow-on, India took to batting in their second innings, declaring at 186-6 in 42 overs with Harmanpreet Kaur top scoring 44 runs.

The play on day 3 saw India bundle out England for just 131 runs in 27.3 overs within the first session to defend the 478-run total successfully. Deepti Sharma chipped in with 4-32, completing a nine-wicket haul in the Test, and for her all-round performance, she was adjudicated as the player of the match.
