Amidst speculation regarding his non-selection in the national team, the Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan has sent out a training video of himself for a potential return to the sport soon. The 25-year-old, who was in line for selection during the South Africa Tests, opted out of the series due to “mental fatigue.”

A few reports emerged wherein the Indian team management wasn’t happy after Ishan Kishan was partying in Dubai, United Arab Emirates during his leave granted for mental fatigue. As one of the regulars in Team India in the last year or so, he had been asking for a break from national duties after the completion of the ODI World Cup 2023.
It led to another set of reports suggesting that Ishan Kishan was dropped from the ongoing India versus Afghanistan three-match T20I series with the reason being the mistrust between him and the Indian team management. Before the first T20I between India and Afghanistan at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Rahul Dravid addressed Ishan Kishan’s situation, and stated, “Absolutely no disciplinary issue. Ishan Kishan was not available for selection.”
