Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan urged fans to pray for team India’s victory in Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be played in Pakistan. The cricketer also praised the team led by Rohit Sharma for their stellar win in the T20 World Cup 2024, played in the USA and West Indies. India defeated South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, by a margin of seven runs to join West Indies and England in the elite club of two-time T20 World Cup winners.
After the team’s win, Ishan Kishan, a young wicketkeeper batter, lauded the squad as well as urged fans to pray for their win in the Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is scheduled to be played in Pakistan. The 25-year-old said that the side delivered a remarkable performance in the final despite making a few mistakes in previous games throughout the tournament. Later, Kishan urged fans to pray for the team’s win in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Kishan told PTI, "India has won. We should all pray for their win in the upcoming Champions Trophy. We were making some mistakes but the way we played and won, it was expected from the team.” Notably, the cricketer is currently out of the Indian team and didn’t make it to the team in the World Cup 2024 as well as the Zimbabwe tour’s squad.
Kishan, along with Shreyas Iyer were snubbed from BCCI’s central contracts earlier this year. The decision came after both cricketers decided to skip the domestic season after repetitive warnings from the management and the captain. The Ranchi-born cricketer last played for the Indian team in a T20I match against Australia in November 2023.
