Nathan Lyon’s delivery hit West Indies batter Kavem Hodge's abdomen guard, which left him in visible pain, as he tried to leave the turning ball in the second Test between Australia and West Indies. West Indies are touring Australia for a multi-format series consisting of 2 Tests, Three ODIs and 3 T20Is. On Day three of the second Test at The Gabba, West Inides’ Hodge took a blow off a Nathan Lyon delivery.
The incident took place during Lyon’s sixth over of West Indies' second innings. Lyon delivered a length ball that bounced and turned, which Hodge deflected using his abdomen guard. The painful incident left everyone, including the commentators in splits. The 30-year-old scored 29 runs off 74 balls, including four boundaries in the second innings against Australia. He had smashed 71 off 194 in the first innings.

West Indies lead hosts by 200+ runs
After losing the first match by 10 wickets, West Indies came in the second match to level the Test series. In the first innings, the Kraigg Brathwaite-led side got off to a shaky start as the Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc reached his 350 Test wicket. At one point, the Carribeans were reeling at 60 with the loss of five wickets. However, the guests managed to come back stronger and put up a total of 311 runs, owing to Hodge, Joshua Da Silva, and Kevin Sinclair’s half-centuries.
In the second innings, the hosts proved to be more lethal and regularly picked wickets to compel the guests to declare innings at 193 with the loss of 9 wickets. By the end of the second innings, Australia were given a target of 216 runs.
