Following a yet another successful WWE Championship defense, Cody Rhodes’ latest challenger Kevin Owens delivered a devastating piledriver move on him, to send the American Nightmare to a hospital during the closing stages of the Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME). At the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York, Triple H, the Chief Content Officer (COO) of the WWE, got into the face of Kevin Owens for his dastardly act before they nearly came to blows.

In the main event of the WWE SNME, Cody Rhodes had a herculean task at hand, to defend his championship against former friend turned bitter rival Kevin Owens. During a hard-hitting WWE Championship match, Owens and Rhodes inadvertently knocked out two referees while trying to take each other down, but ultimately, the champion managed to retain the title after hitting Cross Rhodes, planting Kevin Owens head first on a steel chair before Charles Robinson recovered to count the pinfall.

Cody Rhodes was sent to the hospital after Kevin Owens' devastating piledriver move

After Cody Rhodes celebrated his WWE Championship defence in front of thousands of fans in attendance, holding the famous Winged Eagle Title aloft, Kevin Owens recovered from the Cross Rhodes on a steel chair before delivering the piledriver - a banned move in WWE - on the reigning champion. As the medical personnel and WWE officials, including SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis attended to Cody Rhodes inside the ring, Triple H walked to the entrance ramp, to confront Kevin Owens before they nearly got physical with each other.

Cody Rhodes was eventually stretched out of the arena in a neck brace before being loaded up into an ambulance for further treatment at a nearby hospital in Long Island. Nick Aldis was present on the scene right through, anticipating a potential sneak attack from Kevin Owens on Cody Rhodes before Triple H also arrived in time to see the WWE Champion being escorted out of the arena in an ambulance in which Jamie Noble and Shane Helms got seated as well.

There is no update on Cody Rhodes’ condition as of this writing, and with that, the fans will be hoping for the American Nightmare to return to the WWE soon, to avenge what Kevin Owens did to him at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum during the return episode of SNME.
