Former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal might be one of the most popular celebrities around, and he proved this again recently by playing with younger fans in a pool. On a vacation, a recent clip of O’Neal went viral on social media which shows the seven foot tall, 146 kg man floating in a swimming pool and being pushed around by kids.
Jokingly, the NBA icon shouts that he’s drowning while the kids try to lift him above the water and towards the edge of the pool. O’Neal is great at dealing with kids, as shown by how much fun they seem to be having playing with the celebrity in the video. Himself a father of six children, it is little surprise how skilful the former basketball star is at dealing with kids of all ages.
The short video was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Imagine going on vacation and seeing Shaq” and quickly went viral, amassing more than 400,000 plus likes. Fans on social media commented that Shaq was giving these kids a memorable experience they would cherish for a long time.
O’Neal is one of NBA’s biggest philanthropists for children’s cause
O’Neal is one of the wealthiest former NBA players, thanks to his glittering basketball career and wide array of television work post retirement. He uses his wealth to support philanthropic causes, with a special focus on helping underprivileged children who are growing up in difficult neighborhoods.
A few programs supported by him include the Shaq-to-school program (which provides stationary and basic school necessities to children who might not be able to afford it), the Shaquille O’Neal Boys and Girls Club (which provides children from ages 6-18 with engaging and educational activities) and the Shaq-a-claus event (an event where hundreds of kids received gifts and other festivities in December).
