In the second match of Sunday’s double-header, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are hosting the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. While the KKR are comfortably placed second in the IPL 2024 points table, the Lucknow-based franchise slipped to fourth spot after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a convincing 28-run win over Punjab Kings, earlier in the day on May 5.
Earlier in the match, it was the home skipper, KL Rahul, who won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. Following this, as usual, Phil Salt and Sunil Narine took the field. Giving a brisk start to the side, adding 57 runs off four overs, Phil Salt departed after adding 32 runs on the board off 17 deliveries. His wicket came on the second delivery of the fifth over, which was being bowled by Naveen-ul-Haq.
Naveen-ul-Haq bowled a leg-cutter, well wide of off-stump, which Salt attempted to smash but got a thick top-edge. Soon after this, KL Rahul, who has been a perfect pick for LSG behind the wickets, dived full towards his right and completed a fine catch to dismiss the England keeper-batter Salt.
