Indian batter KL Rahul sparked retirement rumours with his emotional gesture at the Bengaluru pitch after loss against New Zealand in the first Test. On Sunday, October 20, New Zealand scripted history as they won their first Test on Indian soil after a long gap of 36 years. This was the Kiwis' first win since 1988 in India. The Tom Latham-led side knocked down the hosts for just 46 runs in the first innings. 

After the match, KL Rahul sparked rumours of his retirement with an emotional gesture. Following the loss, Rahul was seen showing gratitude by touching the pitch of M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in the same way legendary Sachin Tendulkar did in his final Test. While there is no word by anyone regarding Rahul’s retirement, fans are speculating if the cricketer has decided to hang up his boots from the longest format. In the Test against the Black Caps, KL Rahul went for a six-ball duck in the first innings and could score only 12 runs off 16 deliveries in the second innings.
