During the first Test of the two-match series between India and Bangladesh, KL Rahul was involved in a funny incident on third day’s play at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which has gone viral on the social media platform X. When Rishabh Pant skied a ball from Mehidy Hasan Miraz on third day’s play, KL Rahul sat up from his chair to get ready for batting, but seconds later, as Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto dropped the catch, he had a wry smile on his face while returning back to take his seat.

Notably, the hilarious reaction from KL Rahul was recorded on camera during India’s second innings when Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill were in the midst of a 167-run stand for the fourth wicket during India’s second innings. Pant was eventually dismissed for 109 off 128 runs by Miraz, which led to Rahul getting his chance to bat, and he scored an unbeaten 22 off 19 as the Indian cricket team pushed the run rate forward.

Rishabh Pant scored hundred on return to Test cricket before India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs

After the Men in Blue declared their second innings on 287/4, Bangladesh had a tough task to chase down a 515-run total, but they were bundled out for 234 runs on the fourth day, losing the first Test by a big margin of 280 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin, who picked up his 37th five-wicket haul in the second innings, had also scored a match-defining hundred in the first innings, for which he received the player of the match award.

Following his hundred on return to Test cricket against Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant was quite happy with his performance along with the win for the Indian cricket team. He was quoted as saying, as per ESPNcricinfo, “100 was special because I love playing in Chennai. After injury, I wanted to play all three formats and this was my first [Test] match after coming back. Loving it every day. [Celebration] It was emotional, I wanted to score each and every match which didn't I couldn't do, but coming back to Test cricket, which is where I belong the most.”

With a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series, the Indian cricket team will be heading to Kanpur to play the second Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park.
