France’s Kylian Mbappe had an uproarious reaction to the English captain Harry Kane’s penalty which cost the Three Lions a trip to the semifinals in FIFA World Cup 2022. France and England played out one of the best games of the tournament, where the defending World Champions emerged victorious with a 2-1 margin.

Les Bleus took the lead thanks to a brilliant goal by Aurelien Tchoumeni. But England soon found an equaliser thanks to Harry Kane’s powerful penalty in the 54th minute. 23 minutes later, the French all-time leading scorer Olivier Giroud scored and gave his team the lead.

Then at the 88th-minute mark, the Three Lions found a golden opportunity to level the game but Kane overshot the penalty as the ball landed straight into the stands. England’s captain missed the spot kick, and Kylian Mbappe burst into laughter as he was convinced the French have qualified for the semis.

After the game, Harry Kane addressed the missed penalty and talked about how he was fully prepared to score on both penalties but he faltered in his execution. He said, “No, I am always someone who prepares for getting one or two penalties in a game."

"I always have an idea of what I want to do. I can’t fault my preparation or anything like that, it was just the execution on the night. The first penalty was great, the second one, I didn’t quite hit it how I wanted to hit,” Kane told ITV.
