France and Real Madrid star player Kylian Mbappe visited his wax double in Madrid. The statue of the legend, donning France’s jersey and posing with crossed arms, is to be displayed at the iconic London’s Madame Tussaud museum. The 26-year-old allied with a group of artists and spent a lot of time with them to get his statue ready. Mbappe’s father Wilfrid accompanied him at the event. The forward was awed after witnessing the work of the artists. He was also stunned and pleased by the uncanny resemblance between him and the sculpture.
“Oh, wow. The new jersey, even the new boots. That's me. I love it, amazing. It’s a big honour, I want to say thanks to people who worked it and be part of this project as it is a big achievement for me, big honour, to be part of the Madame Tussauds family,” said Mbappe. The statue will reach Madame Tussaud’s Baker Street in London, a few hours before the arrival of the star footballer in the city.
Real Madrid to square off against Arsenal on April 8
Real Madrid will take on Arsenal in the first leg of Champions League 2024-25 quarter-finals, scheduled to be played on April 8 at the iconic Emirates Stadium. Mbappe will look to shine in the big game to help his team get the better of the eminent English club. Playing his first season for Madrid, he is the highest goal-scorer for the side in the competition, with seven goals in 12 outings.
Ahead of the big game, Madame Tussaud is celebrating the new attraction, and is also allowing free entries to kids under the age of 16, donning Mbappe's official jersey from April 4 to 21. In 2024, Mbappe met another version of himself wearing a blue France jersey, at a pop-up event in Paris.
